Gear Skiving
a process for efficient gears in the aerospace industry
With the Gear Skiving process, RO-RA Aviation Systems is now able to machine internal and external serrations as well as gears for the aerospace industry. However, what is behind this process and why is it so efficient?
What is Gear Skiving?
For the production of gears, the Gear Skiving process is a very productive and precise solution. This application is attracting a lot of attention for internal and external gears in many other industries beside the aerospace industry. The method is much more efficient than unlike conventional processes, such as gear profiling and gear hobbing.
It can be used to produce inner and outer serrations and gears in a much shorter time with only one set-up. This increases performance and productivity, and reduces costs.
Serrations and Gears of RO-RA in the Aviation Industry
As part of a customer project, RO-RA was looking for a better and more efficient solution for components with gears. Thanks to the Gear Skiving technology introduced in 2020, RO-RA is now able to offer its customers individual solutions for a wide range of gears:
- Internal and external spur gears
- Internal and external helical gears
- Internal and external serrations
Through these process applications RO-RA expands its product portfolio for the aerospace industry.
Thanks to our state-of-the-art machinery, we are able to equip our machines with the necessary skiving tools for the process. In addition, we can process a wide range of materials and provide our customers with price competitive solutions.
