From data to action: How RO-RA Aviation Systems GmbH is using BI evaluations to drive improvement

Transparency is a crucial element in motivating employees and fostering a sense of accountability within a company. RO-RA Aviation Systems GmbH has implemented a BI evaluation system with high usability in the shop floor area to promote transparency and improve overall performance.

Previously, there was a lack of clarity in determining whether a week was successful or in need of improvement. The unique requirements of the aviation industry, including small to medium batch sizes and a heterogeneous product portfolio, further complicated the process of assessing performance. Financial data was often too time-delayed to provide a clear understanding of past performance or to derive effective measures from it.

To address these issues, RO-RA Aviation Systems GmbH aimed to develop a solution that would enable early recognition of developments in planned/actual hours and initiate appropriate countermeasures. The company also prioritized involving employees in the development process from the beginning, as this leads to higher acceptance of the solution and the incorporation of valuable employee input.

One example of this input was the idea to run the evaluation as a screensaver, making it more visible and accessible to employees. Another was to make the dashboard primarily visual, with the option to view the underlying data when needed. These suggestions were incorporated into the final solution, resulting in a more effective and well-received evaluation system.

In conclusion, open communication and active involvement of employees in the development process are crucial in creating a transparent and effective system for monitoring and improving performance in the aviation industry.
